Choosing typefaces that work in Latin and Cyrillic
A shortlist of families that hold up in both alphabets, and three things to check before you commit.

Bilingual brands in Bulgaria need type that looks equally good in both alphabets. Many popular fonts include Cyrillic — but not all of them do it well.
Three things to check
- The Bulgarian forms. Letters like д, л and ж have distinct Bulgarian shapes. Check that the font supports them.
- Weight and width. Set the same headline in both languages. Cyrillic text often runs longer — make sure the layout survives.
- The details. Look at quotation marks, the long dash and numbers in both scripts.
