From brief to press check: the life of a magazine issue

A week-by-week look at how an issue moves from flatplan to the printer’s proof.

Week one is the flatplan: every page on one sheet, so everyone sees the shape of the issue. Week two is layout. Week three is corrections and pictures. Week four is the press check — the moment the colours on paper finally meet the colours on screen.
